Family Food Distribution
Jesus calls the Christian community to serve the “least of these” (Matthew 25:40).
What Is It? The Harford County Office on Aging has identified many citizens in our community who are at-risk of not having enough to eat.
We are partnered with The Maryland Food Bank, The Harford Community Action Agency, and Luna’s House Animal Care & Education Center. Each month, members and friends of Bel Air United Methodist Church pack and distribute groceries (meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, health and beauty aids, dog, cat, and pet food and supplies, non-perishable food items) to between 250-350 families in need.
What Do We Do? On most first Saturday's of every month, (7:30 a.m.- 11:00 a.m.) our volunteers gather in McComas Hall to prepare to distribute food. The food is distributed 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 am.
How Can You Help? There are many ways in which you can participate in this ministry. We need packers, sorters, and runners. The packers put together the bags of groceries. The sorters are needed to sort health & beauty aids, canned goods, meats, fruits, and vegetables, etc. The runners take the groceries to the families cars via a shopping cart. This is a great ministry for families to do together. We accept donations of canned goods, paper products, health & beauty aids, diapers, formula on an on-going basis. Simply drop off your items at the collection barrels at the McComas and Armstrong entrances. For more information or to help, please contact Food.Services@baumc(dot)com
