Dan Lampton

Tech Team Leader & Music Tech

Dan became the worship tech team lead music tech last year and says he is really enjoying his new job. He is responsible for providing sound and video support to enhance the worship service experience, provide tech support for the sanctuary worship services, coordinate the tech team schedules to ensure adequate support for the worship services and other special events, and monitor equipment status to ensure it is available and ready when needed. Dan says he likes working with sound, music, and microphones - basically having control of all the sounds to make the worship service the best it can be! On Sunday mornings you will find him behind the sound board in the balcony of the sanctuary or in McComas Hall.He has been married to Deb for 35 years - and yes that is the same Deb Lampton that serves in a variety of ways in our children's and music ministries in our church. They have one daughter Taylor; her and her husband Michael live in Delaware where she is in her final step to complete her PhD.Dan's favorite Bible scripture is Job 38:4-7 "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone - while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?" And his favorite quotation is from Charles Mingus: Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that's creativity.Dan likes music of all kinds and plays not only the guitar which you most likely have heard at one of the worship services, but also plays the banjo, ukulele, and mandolin. He is intrigued with audio recording and even used to have a recording studio (but unfortunately that takes more space and time than he has now). And not surprising, he has a Bachelor of Sacred Music degree in Composition. When asked what inspires him, Dan's response was "anything done well" and those that create it - which comes from his interest in music but extends to everything. Thank you for your service and awesome contribution to our worship services Dan!
